Cité du Vin - 10 ans

France

| Bordeaux

With 3.5 million visitors welcomed since its opening

In 2025, The Cité du Vin remained one of the most popular cultural and tourist attractions in Bordeaux in 2025, welcoming 390,000 visitors. Although annual visitor numbers are down slightly (-6%) due to a less favourable national and international context and the gradual reintroduction of air links to European destinations, the Cité du Vin (with more than half of its visitors from outside France) nevertheless has reasons to celebrate. Large local turnout at cultural events and tasting workshops, successful corporate events, more than 3.5 million visitors since opening, enthusiasm for new offers and the Boutique... these are all positive signs ahead of the venue’s 10th anniversary in 2026.

2025 visitor numbers and satisfaction rate

Between January and December 2025, the Cité du Vin welcomed 390,000 visitors of 170 different nationalities, bringing the total number of visitors since its opening to more than 3.5 million.
This result is slightly down on 2024 (-6%), explained by the tense national and international economic climate, which is less conducive to tourism and leisure activities. Locally, the very gradual resumption of air links with European destinations following Ryanair’s withdrawal from Bordeaux has also affected international visitor numbers at the Cité du Vin (55% of total visitor numbers).
Spanish, American and British visitors remain the most numerous, followed by Germans and Italians. The rest of the visitors break down as follows: 28% French tourists, 7% day trippers and 10% Bordeaux Métropole residents.

Regarding the cultural offers, the Permanent Exhibition welcomed nearly 361,000 visitors and nearly 24,000 enjoyed the third edition of the Via Sensoria Sensory tasting journey between April and November. The daytime tasting workshops attracted more than 17,000 individual participants. The cultural programme, specifically targeting locals and Bordeaux Métropole residents, attracted 3,000 participants to the tasting workshops, and 5,200 to the various evening events and meetings held in 2025.
For professionals, the Cité du Vin hosted 525 corporate events (306 events, 101 guided tours and 110 privatised workshops), combining business and cultural experiences through the privatisation of activities.

Also noteworthy is the success of the new offer allowing visitors to explore the Permanent Exhibition and enjoy two glasses of wine in the Belvedere. 17% of visitors to the Permanent Exhibition have taken advantage of this offer since its launch at the start of summer. The same enthusiasm applies to the Boutique, where sales were up 2.5%. With over 1,000 wine-related products selected according to strict criteria (sustainable materials, recyclability, certification, products made locally or in France, supplier’s CSR policy, etc.), the Boutique attracts many visitors by catering to all tastes and budgets.
In terms of visitor satisfaction, with a Net Promoter Score (NPS)* of 69.8 (up one point from 2024), the Cité du Vin is well on its way towards Very High Satisfaction. This result reflects the attention paid to visitors on a daily basis and the commitment of all the teams to improving the public’s experience.

2016 – 2026: the Cité du Vin is 10 years old!

On 1 June 2016, the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux officially opened its doors. It has since established itself as a major cultural and tourist attraction. To celebrate this symbolic anniversary and to thank all those who have made it a success, the Cité du Vin has devised a series of events for its various audiences that will run throughout the year, from January to December. This includes, among other events: a temporary photo exhibition entitled Around the World in 50 Vineyards showcasing its partners, to be discovered from February onwards; a special Bordeaux wines edition of the Via Sensoria Sensory tasting journey; a special 10th anniversary cultural programme; a symposium entitled “Does wine have a future without culture?” on 13 February; branded 10th anniversary products in the Boutique; and a festive weekend from 4 to 7 June with numerous events (family activities, a concert, evening open house). “2026 will be a year of celebration and sharing at the Cité du Vin, and we hope that the public will join us in celebrating this symbolic anniversary,” says managing director Philippe Massol.
